Mr. Riccio has maintained a private law practice in Braintree , Massachusetts since 1990. He has substantial jury trial experience in civil litigation, representing injured parties. His areas of concentration include medical malpractice; dental malpractice; product liability; dramshop liability; general negligence; crime victim's law; automobile liability; trucking liability; work place liability; insurance law; and appellate law (civil).
Dr. Riccio is a graduate of Boston College. He received his DMD from Boston University School of Graduate Dentistry. He then attended Suffolk University where he received his JD, cum laude in 1985. He was admitted to the Massachusetts bar in 1985.
From 1977 until 1984, Dr. Riccio was a general dentist, in private practice. Earlier in his dental career, Dr. Riccio was a Dental Extern for the U.S. Public Health Service, Bureau of Prisons in Lompoc, California.
Prior to starting his own law practice, Dr. Riccio was an associate attorney with a major Boston law firm.
Dr. Riccio is admitted to practice in Massachusetts . He is also admitted to the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts and to the United States Court of Appeals, First Circuit. Dr. Riccio has been Chairman of the Medical Negligence Section of the Massachusetts Academy of Trial Attorneys since 2009. He is a Regional Governor (Norfolk County) of the Massachusetts Academy of Trial Attorneys. Dr. Riccio is a Fellow with the American College of Legal Medicine. He was co-Chair of the Health Law Council with the Massachusetts Bar Association; and is presently a Delegate at Large. Dr. Riccio is a member of the National Crime Victim Bar Association; the Association of Trial Lawyers of American and the Million Dollar Advocates Forum. Dr. Riccio is also a clinical instructor in Oral Medicine at Harvard Dental School.
To insure quality representation of his clients, Dr. Riccio became Board Certified as a Civil Trial Specialist by the National Board of Trial Advocacy in October 2000, and was re-certified in October 2005. Dr. Riccio has been on the faculty at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine since 1995.
Dr. Riccio is a frequent speaker at continuing legal and dental education programs related to civil trial practice and Risk Management for dentists. He has lectured throughout the country. He is the author of “Million Dollar Closing Arguments” (1996, audiotape, published by the ATLA Press); as well as articles in the MBA Journal, Does the Use of the Phrase “To a Reasonable Degree of Medical Certainty” Create a Higher Burden of Proof in Civil Cases? (2003), and The Current Status of Expert Discovery in Massachusetts (2006). Mr. Riccio is certified as a mediator.
